1st XI 2-0 Motueka FC

Location: Goodman reserve

Goals: Mackenzie x2

Match MVP: Mackenzie The boys traveled out to the mighty Motueka for a brisk night catch up game held under the Goodman Reserve lights. Without some players available, the boys still fielded a strong starting lineup with some very tidy players on the bench ready to make an impact.

Both teams started out fairly strong, with perhaps the visitors having the better of the ball and ball play, their strong defensive line restricting Mots attackers to shots from 40 yards out.

TFC saw themselves 1-0 up when the most inform player in Nelson right now pounced on a loose ball in the box to thump it into the net. Not long after, a scrumptious ball from midfielder Joseph Walton saw Macca running through 1 on 1 with the home keeper. The TFC attacker calmly lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper and into the net for his 4 goal in 3 games!

Half time blew after a couple of yellows for each side, and the boys went into the break trying to keep warm.

Not much to report for the second half except for more injuries. The subs off the bench played fantastic including Tora who managed to get 2 penalties, which apparently weren't given? The boys dug deep and kept the ongoing attacks from the home side at bay to keep the clean sheet and their first win of the season!!!

A huge shift from Macca gives him MOTM for the night game, class game and form from you mate!!! Match Report by Joe Robertson.
