1st XI 1-4 Rangers
Location: A&P Park
Goals: Seth Watson
Match MVP: Franco
After a swift trip over the hill 13 of TFCs finest were ready for their top of the table clash against last year's league winners, Blenheim Rangers.
The boys started off by proving we weren't going to be rolled over, trading chances with the home side, Luc even hitting the crossbar from a well worked Stan Moss throw in - quickly becoming our secret weapon.
But it was the home team who struck first after an unlucky penalty was awarded. Joe was sent the wrong way, 1-0. After plenty of long through balls, Rangers had their second, a shot spilled by Joe doubled their lead.
Despite having our fair share of the game, we trailed 2-0 at the break. We started the second half just as we'd finished the first, playing good football and communicating well to snuff out any Rangers attacks. Long into the second half however, Rangers grabbed their third, a well taken shot from the edge of the box.
Just when the home crowd throught the game was dead and buried, Mr Tahuna himself bundled the ball over the line with his noggin to make it 3-1. Seths second goal for the season, currently leading the golden boot race!
Any chance of a comeback was soon lost, when the home side nodded home a cross at the back stick. Unlucky effort from Jonny to make a last ditch clearance on the line.
4-1 final score, Franco claiming MOTM after a class display at the back, cleaning up just about everything Rangers threw at us. We go again midweek against FC Nelson on Tuesday night under the Neale Park lights in another top of the table clash. UP UP ⚪🔵 Match report by Joe Robertson.
2nd XI 2-1 FC Nelson Development
Location: Guppy Park
Goals: Danny Hampton, Simon Petch
Match MVP:
A few big saves from will on fast breaks from FC Nelson to start the game, showing why he is el presidente. The game was a quickly becoming an end to end first half. Blessings coming close on a few occasions after being denied by a couple handy saves. Raimond and Blessings combined with a couple nutmegs and a quick one two beating two defenders resulting in Blessings being chopped right on the edge of the box.
FC Nelson missing two guilt edge opportunities from right out in front, keeping the scores level.
Munday solid at the back with Harry putting in a solid shift at right back with some timely tackles.
Right at the end of the first half Blessings laid back a ball to Danny which cannoned off the underside of the bar keeping the scores at 0-0 going into the sheds.
Starting the second half strong almost getting on the scoresheet with Raimond just unable to take advantage of a mistake from the FC Nelson keeper forcing a save at close range.
Raimond latched onto a loose FC Nelson pass, resulting in a penalty and a 10 minute sin bin for back chat to the ref. Danny steps up from his role in the back and calmly slots the pen into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0 to Tahuna 10 minutes from time
More ill discipline from FC cost them a few more yellow cards, before Petchy latched onto a ball to just about secure the points for the blues in pink.
With just about the last kick of the game FC finally managed to breach the strong defensive backline to make it 2-1, only a consolation effort though as the ref called fulltime on the restart.
Massive result for Tahuna in a hard fought game against a title challenging opposition.

3rd XI 4-3 Motueka
Location: Memorial Park
Goals: Dong, Sayha 3
Match MVP: Ralph Tahuna started the game a bit disjointed (not having trained all week played a factor) and within 10mins Tahuna found themselves 1 goal down. Giambi subbing himself off as he just wasn't in the right frame of mind as he put it. Not even 3 minutes later and Tahuna brought themselves level after Quan had crossed a peach of a ball in that hit the top of Diego's head and out to the backpost for Dong to control and hammer the ball straight into the back of the net from 10 yards out. 1-1 and Tahuna suddenly as if the whole team had smelling salt put under their noses woke up! Dong and Quan racing down the wings with malice and causing all sorts of trouble for the Mot wing backs. Thorsten playing RB cutting out balls left right and centre and causing problems on the overlap with Dong. Some end to end stuff between both teams before Sayha decided he'd had enough of 1-1 and went on a rampage like a viking berserker and hammered the ball home after a beautiful pass from Diego to make it 2-1. With 5 minutes to go in the first half Sayha got his 2nd goal of the game after a beautiful passage of play that started with Eric Louis and went through Quan, Sobi, Binh, Diego and finally Sayha to make it 3-1. The ref blew his whistle for halftime.
2nd half:
After some words of wisdom from coach Stu "Jose Mourinho" Mountain and game day mascot Remi, Tahuna kicked off. Motueka came out hungry after realising they were being technically dominated by the boys in blue. Oli Creed and Ralph Augusto sitting in the CB roles were doing everything in their power to thwart Motueka's strikers. Tom Dunn made some top saves to deny them as well. Not long after, Motueka found themselves a goal to the good after some lackluster defence saw Motueka get the ball over the line to make it 3-2. Undeterred Tahuna fought on and some subs were made with Quan coming off and Fraser Goodmanson making his first appearance for the 3rds jumping into RW. Tahuna pressed on knowing that a slender 3-2 wouldn't cut it. Fraser and Thorsten linking very well on the right side and making life very difficult for Motueka. Sayha who had been a menace the entire game finally got his hat trick (like a roma gypsy tarot reader he'd predicted his hat trick days before) and Tahuna had themselves a 2 goal cushion, 4-2 with 28 minutes to go. An incident involving the Motueka striker resulted in Tom receiving a badly broken nose. With Tom now out of action, Stu called the lads over to re-jig the game plan with Oli Creed to jump between the sticks for the final part of the game. Tahuna put as many bodies behind the ball for the last 20 mins of the game, unfortunately it wasn't enough as Motueka managed to get a goal and set up a nerve wracking last 10mins with the score 4-3, calls from the sideline from both coaches giving 110%. The ref finally blew his whistle as Tahuna continued their unbeaten run to stay top of division 3 with a 3 point cushion.
A game that can only be described as a battle between 2 teams that gave everything on the pitch.
Tahuna now look to their toughest game yet as they take on 2nd placed Richmond Thistle.

What a lovely day.......Didn't start that way., For the first 15 mins or so they were getting into us....in their own kind of way. They moved the ball into our danger areas and then had nothing.....not even a shot. They tried a few over the top but we sweeper keepered them away and they gave up with that tactic pretty soon. Meanwhile we were having on of them games where despite creating chances couldn't hit the back of the net.
Then Kev scored not long after being denied a clear cut penalty and their resistance became futile (yeah folks a quote from the Borg). We scored another 2 before half time to make it 3-0.
The second half produced more of the same. It was good to watch from the keepers perspective....lots of positives. We didn't cough the ball up, communication was good, trust in each other was through the roof, Batty found his wings and provided some great service, Patrick the hatrick got on the score card and gave 4 assists,. The back line remained solid and dealt with what little pressure was presented.....Zane even got a bit lost and found himself running into their 18 yard box and having a shot.....nah shut up ...it was a shot. All in all a great team effort.
So we finished the game 10-0, there were some crackin goals and considering out of our 3 strikers 1 was away and one was in goal we did well with more goalscorers standin up to be counted. Great to see Matty back for a game and scoring goals also great to see the return of Ed.in the midfield.
But let's not get too carried away coz these guys haven't won a game yet and don't score many.
